As we move closer to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, local authorities are facing new challenges. Creating inclusive, smart, and liveable cities means ensuring that technological innovation actively serves human rights and broad community development. With this in mind, the theme for this year's event is "Sustainable Humanities and Future Cities", aiming to comprehensively explore how to integrate humanities development and technological changes into urban planning, and look to the relationship between future urban technological innovation and humanities development.
LivCom 2026 is co-organized by the LivCom Committee alongside several key global partners, including the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), the International Institute on Ageing/INIA (United Nations- Malta), the United Nations Center for Regional Development (UNCRD), the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), and the Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region & Europe (CEDARE). We are also proud to welcome the UNESCO Most Bridges Coalition as a major partner for this year. Building on the success of past events, we anticipate receiving applications from hundreds of cities and projects spanning more than 50 countries.
Details regarding the technical conference, the UN training programme, and other events running alongside the Finals will be shared soon. Please keep an eye on the official LivCom website for the latest updates and announcements.
