About The LivCom Awards 2024 & FAQs


For the benefit of better engagement with WUF12, the Finals & Forum of the 22nd LivCom Awards is decided to be held in Cairo, Egypt during 4-7 November 2024. After joint confirmation by the Egyptian Government and UN-Habitat, the LivCom Finals & Forum are considered as a parallel event of the WUF12, organized by the LivCom Committee in collaboration with ISOCARP, UN-INIA, UNESCO-CISH, UNCRD, UNU-EHS and CEDARE, and supported by the Ministry of Housing of Egypt.The Canadian International College in Egypt (CIC) will provide technical support for LivCom logistics and Jury procedure.


LivCom encourages more cities and projects to enter such unparalleled competition. This year's Awards is centred on mobilizing local authorities to focus on the management of local environment and development with the theme of building smart, liveable and sustainable cities.

When will the LivCom Finals be held in 2024?

It will be held in conjunction with the WUF12 in Cairo Egypt during 4-7 November 2024.

Is there any fees for participating in the LivCom Awards?

Participation in the competition is free of charge. However, you will be responsible for covering your round-trip travel, accommodation and personal expenses.

What are the requirements for submissions?

For Whole City Award, the initial written submission should consist of: Maximum of 4,500 words in English – not including titles/tables/headers etc. Maximum of 24 photographs to be captioned and dated.


For Project and T&S Awards, the word limit for a Submission is 3,000, not counting photo captions, maps, tables, diagrams etc., together with up to 12 captioned photographs.


If the submissions pass the evaluation, cities will be invited to the Finals in Cairo Egypt and make onsite presentations.Please check more requirements on the website.

How many representatives are allowed for the final Presentation?

If the Submissions pass the preliminary evaluation and the applicants are shortlisted in the Finals, a maximum of three representatives for Whole City Award, Project Award and Technology and Solution Award will be permitted to make the Presentation, plus an interpreter if required. At the end of each Presentation, the Judges will ask questions.


During the Finals Presentations, the Jury encourage candidates of Whole City Award further explain how to incorporate concepts, technologies and practices related to age-friendly cities and smart cities based on the Judging Criteria.
