LivCom Finalists 2024


The LivCom Awards Finals 2024 will be held in conjunction with the WUF12 in Cairo, Egypt from 4-7 November inclusive.


Up until October, a total of 33 cities and 39 projects from 30 countries have been invited to the Finals.

The first batch of LivCom Finalists 2024 Released


The LivCom Awards Finals 2024 will be held in conjunction with the WUF12 in Cairo, Egypt from 4-7 November inclusive.


Up until mid September, the first batch of 23 cities and 32 projects from 27 countries has been invited to the Finals. The Jury process is underway and the full list of finalists will be released later.

For the benefit of better engagement with the 12th World Urban Forum/ WUF12,the Finals of the 22nd LivCom Awards is decided to be held in Cairo, Egypt during 4-7 November 2024. All LivCom delegates are required to register on your own for the WUF12.


The LivCom Finals and Forum 2024 will be co-organized by the LivCom Committee, the International Society of City and Regional Planners (ISOCARP), the United Nations International Institute on Ageing (UN-INIA), the International Center for Human Sciences of UNESCO (UNESCO-CISH), the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) etc, and supported by the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities of Egypt.


The Written Submissions are currently being reviewed. As of the end of August, LivCom has received registrations of 267 applicants from 53 countries and LivCom Jury Committee will announce the first batch of finalist cities and projects soon. LivCom delegates will begin registration on-site in Cairo from the morning of 4 November, followed by attending the LivCom2024 Opening Ceremony & Welcome Gala Dinner in the afternoon and evening. The Finals presentations will take place on 5-6 November; the Awards Ceremony & luncheon will be held on the afternoon of 7 November. During the Finals, LivCom will collaborate with the UN agency in organizing the “International Forum on Smart and Liveable Cities” and the “International Training on Active Ageing and Age-Friendly Cities”. Delegates will also be arranged to participate in city events in Cairo, networking events and the WUF12 conferences.


The Programme Agenda of the Finals will be gradually released starting in mid-September. Please stay alert on our website for updates on conference venues, visa application, accommodation, LivCom on-site registration, etc. which will soon be posted.

Submission of the LivCom Awards 2024 Closing on 25th August


The Finals of the 22nd LivCom Awards will be held in Cairo, Egypt during 2-5 November 2024. After joint confirmation by the Egyptian Government and UN-Habitat, the LivCom Finals and Forum is considered as a parallel event of the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12), organized by the LivCom Committee in collaboration with ISOCARP, UN-INIA, UNESCO-CISH, UNCRD and UNU-EHS.


LivCom has been taking participation and sharing as an important goal. Numerous outstanding winner cities consider participation in LivCom as a significant platform and exchange opportunity for city development and improvement of living quality. Cities will in return learn about the best practices and solutions from other countries facing similar challenges.


As of 15th July, LivCom has received registrations of 126 applicants from 37 countries, covering major regions across the world. Entries from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Palestine and Costa Rica have submitted their registrations to LivCom for the very first time.


LivCom encourages more cities and projects to enter such unparalleled competition. The second round of registration opened on 2nd July, with the deadline for Submissions on 25th August. Applicants passing through the review of the international jury will be invited to participate in the LivCom Finals and a wide range of networking events during the Finals.


This year’s Awards is centred on mobilizing local authorities to focus on the management of local environment and development with the theme of building smart, liveable and sustainable cities. As such, technologies, projects and initiatives related to the construction of smart cities are encouraged to be included in the Submission.

The 22nd LivCom Awards to be organized as an important parallel event of the WUF12 in Cairo Egypt this early November.


The LivCom Finals and Forum 2024 will be organized by the LivCom Committee in collaboration with ISOCARP, UNCRD, UN-INIA and supported by the Egyptian Government and UN-Habitat. Relevant organizations from EU, the League of Arab States, UNESCO and UNU are expected to join in the cooperation subsequently.


This year's LivCom Finals and Forum will act as an important parallel event of the WUF12, lasting for 4 days and it also marks the returning of the Awards to Cairo after five years following the success of the LivCom Finals 2018 in Cairo. Participants will be arranged to attend WUF12-related events during or after the Finals, which will greatly increase networking opportunities and benefits throughout the world.


LivCom Forum 2024 will focus on the theme of "Smart Cities" for the first time, where you will meet closely with the world's leading speakers and scientists. Participants will also benefit a lot from LivCom high-level technical conference, training sessions, and city tours and social events in Cairo specially arranged by the host.
